About Mark Thompson (Tomo), (b1960)

 

Artist statement: As an artist, I work hard to develop paintings that speak both to me and to others. Part of my process before I begin painting is to look at a subject (physical or imaginary) that i am about to recreate on canvas.

 I do not merely want to capture the image with my brushes; rather, with careful, colorful strokes, I want it to come alive to the viewer.

 

I try to breathe life into a painting and pleasure for my audience .i want my artwork to speak, not only for me, but for the common man who feels silenced.
